Lutron Introduces In-Room Drape and Lighting Controls

| September 05, 2008

The new Stanza Drapery Track System from Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. gives hotels an easy-to-use, dual-track solution for guest rooms that keeps guests comfortable and controls the daylight entering the space at the touch of a button.

The Lutron guestroom drapery system gives guests simple control of blackout and sheer drapes from anywhere in the room with the use of wall-mounted keypads and an infrared hand-held control. The system provides presets for all-open and all-closed drapery settings, plus fine adjustment anywhere in between.

The new drapery system carries a safety feature that also will keep maintenance costs low: It has a new Manual Open capability for when the power goes out and for those instances when a guest tries to pull the drapes open manually. The drapery track will instantly switch to manual mode, eliminating the danger of breakage.

This hospitality guestroom solution can also integrate seamlessly with Lutron Stanza lighting controls, the new standard for hotel guestroom radio-frequency based light control. The combination provides one solution in the guestroom for both daylight and electric light control. In addition, the system supports ADA and Universal Design requirements by offering one-touch control of lighting on large button keypads and controls.

When integrated with Stanza lighting controls, guests can press a "welcome" button when they enter a room that will turn the lights on and open the shades, creating an inviting experience for their arrival. An "away" button closes the drapes and fades the lights off when they leave, thereby blocking sunlight, protecting furnishings, and reducing energy costs. With or without the lighting controls, keypads at the bedside and a hand-held control provide convenient operation of the drapes from anywhere in the room.
