Top POS Headlines from December: Mobile, Social, and Software Trends Drive Point of Sale

The last month of the year 2012 was a busy one in the point of sale landscape. Not surprisingly, a recent National Restaurant Association report revealed that today’s diners are expecting to be offered technology tableside to facilitate the dining experience. Along with that, this past month’s top stories included a number of enhancements to the point of service from social media applications to the latest software trends for 2013. Bar Launches Mobile App Allowing Facebook Friends to Request Drinks
Bar Louie has partnered with Seattle startup graZie Mobile to revolutionize virtual gift giving. Bar Louie has launched its Mobile Drink App from GraZie Mobile available for free download for iPhone users through the Apple App Store can be used in several ways. Users may check-in to Bar Louie and post their special occasion on their Facebook wall for friends to see, search through a list of their Facebook friends to send them a drink, or redeem Bar Louie drinks sent to them.

NRA Report Reveals Diners Seek Tableside Tech
The National Restaurant Association's 2013 Restaurant Industry Forecast says more than half of consumers want tableside payment options. More than half of consumers surveyed for this year’s Forecast said they would use tableside electronic payment options at tableservice restaurants and another 44 percent said they would use a tableside ordering system.
