Study Reveals Mobile Check-In One of Top Services for Hotel Apps

9/9/2014
Intelity released data from 25 of the company’s global clients. The data provides a look at use of Intelity-created mobile apps and found that the top five most used guest services are:

Concierge requests
Hotel information
Housekeeping requests
Dining/In-room dining
Pre-arrival requests and mobile check-in/check-out

The hotels were located in 25 different cities, including six in North America, one in South America, 12 in Asia, three in Africa, and three in Europe. Nine of the hotels had fewer than 250 guest rooms, 10 had between 251 and 500 guest rooms, and six had more than 500 guest rooms.

Pre-arrival requests and mobile check-in/check-out accounted for approximately 15 percent of total usage, a statistic which points to the growing preference among hotel guests to skip the front desk. Many hotels have recently begun to re-evaluate their front desk policies in favor of automated options for guest check-in, such as automated kiosks and mobile apps with a check-in feature.

Intelity has published a whitepaper about this topic on the company website.
