Seaport Selects Enterasys OneFabric to Provide Wireless Access

Boston-based Seaport Hotel & Seaport World Trade Center has announced the deployment of Enterasys OneFabric Edge solutions to provide Internet access to hotel and conference guests. The new Seaport network can be proactively managed by the property’s IT staff using the Enterasys isaac social media interface, which reduces the time spent reacting to potential connectivity issues and provides the infrastructure required to integrate in-room guest entertainment systems and ultimately, a VoIP phone system.

To accommodate the continually growing population of wireless devices connecting to the property’s guest network, Seaport replaced both their wired and wireless guest networks with an Enterasys OneFabric Edge solution. The hotel deployed Enterasys Wireless, as well as several Enterasys switches (Enterasys S-Series, Enterasys B-Series) and Enterasys NetSight (formerly Network Management Suite) for central management.

Enterasys’ isaac is a social media interface that allows users to interact with the network using familiar social media networks, such as Twitter, Facebook and SalesForce.com Chatter.

Seaport enlisted the help of Enterasys solutions provider, Single Digits, a provider of High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) management and support solutions. Single Digits’ hosted hospitality and conference services allows the Seaport IT staff to focus on optimizing the new network while hotel and conference guests are authenticated and supported. Single Digits also monitors network performance 24x7. Through the Single Digits web portal Seaport IT gains full visibility into performance metrics, including bandwidth utilization at the application layer.
