Onity's ADVANCE RFID Electronic Locking Solution Provides "Plug & Play" Security Technology Upgrade

Onity's recently released ADVANCE RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) contact-less electronic locking solution is designed to make it quick and affordable for hotels to upgrade from traditional magstripe locking technology to RFID, the latest and most advanced reader technology currently available in the hospitality security market. The ADVANCE lock's modular two-piece design allows current Onity ADVANCE customers to complete a technology upgrade from magstripe to RFID with only a simple "plug & play" replacement of the card reader, which in most cases takes less than five minutes per door to install. Onity, one of the world's leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

In addition to replacing the lock reader, a central office software upgrade is all that is needed to complete the ADVANCE RFID installation. The lock handle, hardware and other electronics need not be replaced.

Onity's ADVANCE RFID locking solution is engineered utilizing the secure and reliable reader technology, which is MiFare and NFC (Near Field Communication) compatible, and meets the most stringent standards in the industry, including ISO14443A and ISO14443B (part 4). It is also BHMA 156.25 and BHMA 156.13 certified.

The system employs multiple levels of encryption in order to maximize security. All Onity ADVANCE RFID cards are encrypted with the NXP Crypto-1 encoding algorithm, used in more than 1 billion smartcards throughout the world. For even more advanced security, Onity has taken the additional step of further encrypting the information which is encoded on the MiFare token and passed over the ADVANCE RFID lock reader. This encryption is unique to Onity, and provides an extra level of protection by ensuring that newly-encoded cards will cancel out lost/stolen cards once used in the locks, rendering them invalid.

ADVANCE RFID also offers a selection of aesthetic options, including finishes, handle designs, and cover plates that allow hoteliers to blend the guest room door locks into any hotel décor.
