Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' New Port of Call Installs NorthStar POS

12/2/2016
Custom Business Solutions (CBS), developers of an iPad-based Point of Sale System for the hospitality industry, announced the installation of its NorthStar point-of-sale system on Harvest Caye, the Belize island resort-style port of call for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. NorthStar will be used for guest, server and kiosk ordering in the new island resort’s four restaurants, poolside service and beach villas.

Last year, Custom Business Solutions installed the NorthStar system in several dining options within Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, Norwegian Escape, beginning a partnership with the cruise line that has now expanded to Harvest Caye. On Harvest Caye, the NorthStar system will be utilized in the two-story indoor/outdoor LandShark Bar and Grill, the Laughing Bird Bar and Grill serving the beach, the Manatee Marina Bar & Grill serving the marina area of the island, and the Horse-Eye Jack Bar & Grill servicing the island’s cabanas and the pool.

More than 100 tablets will be used in the installation including guest-facing ordering, server use and kiosks. At each dining options or kiosk, the NorthStar system authenticates the age of the guest and allows them to order food and beverages at their own pace and tracks charges through the ship’s folio system.

Developed for the restaurant industry four years ago, NorthStar Order Entry system is an omnichannel cloud-based system offering ordering capabilities for point-of-sale, online, mobile and kiosk scenarios. NorthStar empowers guests to self-order and pay at their own pace, and is used by full-service and fast-casual restaurants and at amusement parks across the country.
