Mr. Goodcents Schools Franchisees on the ABC's of PCI Standards in Bid to Eliminate Compliance Confusion

| October 14, 2009

As awareness about PCI compliance grows, misinformation surrounding the mandate rapidly increases as well. Concern among the Mr. Goodcents Subs & Pastas franchisees developed as owner/operators were given differing validation requirements from their various acquiring banks. The Mr. Goodcents franchise office decided to search for a way to educate their franchise owners about PCI compliance, how to incorporate it into their businesses, and the appropriate steps to achieve it. BHI Advanced Internet, provider of SecureConnect, was able to help educate franchisees about PCI compliance and why it is important to strengthen security throughout the Mr. Goodcents system.

"BHI was willing to work with us to educate our franchisees about PCI compliance before beginning the implementation process. It was important that all our franchise owners understood the purpose of the PCI DSS requirements and why we have chosen to work with BHI and implement the SecureConnect solution," says Rick Frederick, IT director at Mr. Goodcents. To begin the PCI compliance initiative, BHI holds webinars and workshops for franchisees, allowing them to ask questions and voice concerns about becoming compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

After looking at several vendors, Mr. Goodcents found SecureConnect to be the most comprehensive solution. This was especially important, because standardized technology is used across the brand in most other areas of the company. "SecureConnect was the clear choice for us because it offers all the necessary services in one solution. That's hard to find, at a fair price, with the other service providers," says Frederick.

Some of the key features SecureConnect offers include a managed firewall, web filtering and content control, essential PCI required services including quarterly vulnerability scans and system logs, and Wi-Fi secure access points. In combination with the easyPCI package offerings, these features help create a fully managed Internet and network security solution for Mr. Goodcents. The brand will now be confident in its network security across all 105 locations, and as Frederick says, "Now that we understand the security benefits of becoming compliant, we are confident that we have the best solution in place to protect our Mr. Goodcents customers, our Mr. Goodcents Franchisees and the Mr. Goodcents brand."
