Motel 6 Website Launches Golf Journeys Feature

| August 04, 2008

Motel 6 announces the California Golf Getaway, the latest featured road trip on its new trip-planning Web site, Goin6.com. The tour guides golfers on a journey through California's most scenic, challenging, and popular courses as well as some of the more affordable, lesser known but equally rewarding greens.

"Our golf course tour encourages the avid golfer to expand his or her horizons by teeing off at some of the best courses, as well as some of the state's great golfing values to help you stay within your budget," says Jeff Palmer, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Motel 6.  "Golfing expenses can add up quickly so we've made it easy to find comfortable and affordable Motel 6s along the route so travelers can focus on their game instead of on their wallet."

The California Golf Getaway takes golfers of any level to some of the most playable golf courses along the Pacific coast, from San Diego to San Francisco.  Reserve your tee time at the world's top courses where many pros have trained such as Pelican Hills in Orange County and Harding Park, or Pasatiempo in the Monterey/San Francisco Bay area.  For the golfer interested in the more affordable, but just as enjoyable course, Goin6.com suggests The Crossings at Carlsbad or Arrowood in Oceanside; El Dorado or Recreation Park in Long Beach; Sandpiper in Santa Barbara; Avila Beach, Sea Pines, and Morro Bay courses located right along the coast; and Poppy Hills on the Monterey Peninsula.

Use Goin6.com to map out a trip that includes some or all of the recommended stops along the tour. Other highlights that travelers can consider in between games include: Swim, dive, snorkel, and kayak at La Jolla Underwater Park; take a deluxe tour through Warner Brother's Studio or a stroll down Venice Boardwalk; eat at Julia Child's favorite taco stand, La Super-Rica Taqueria; or hop on a whale-watching boat in Monterey Bay.

The Goin'6 Web site helps golfers plan a great trip by utilizing the "Eat," "Sleep," and "Do" feature tabs, including Motel 6 locations along the way that provide comfortable and affordable accommodations. Throughout this summer, the Goin6.com site will launch new Motel 6 journeys with opportunities for travelers to explore America on a budget. Currently, Goin6.com features great vacation ideas like the Jazz Journey, a trip that traces the roots of jazz music from Chicago to New Orleans; the National Parks Tour — Arizona/Utah Loop and the California National Parks Tour, two trips featuring some of the most magnificent national parks in the Western U.S. region; Cradles of Liberty: D.C./Philadelphia — a trip that guides travelers to sights brimming with American history along the East coast; the Southern California Theme Park Adventure through the most exciting and family-friendly attractions in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County; and the Santa Barbara Wine Country Tour, featuring small town charm, vineyard tours, and wine tastings along 50 miles of coastal valleys.
