LG Electronics Launches Pro:Centric Interactive Platform at IH/M&RS

LG Electronics unveils Pro:Centric, a standards-based application platform offering the hospitality industry a robust new interactive communications interface. LG's new LG700H series of LCD HDTVs is Pro:Centric enabled, making it a lodging pay-per-view (PPV) compatible television to include an applications platform.

The Pro:Centric technology application provides a unique way for hotels to deliver uniform services and features across both RF (radio frequency) and IP (Internet protocol) based networks, without the need for additional hardware such as set-top boxes. This also allows for portability between existing platforms, as well as quicker execution of new applications and back office integration. Through this platform, the LG700H series is designed to interface with interactive program guides, games and Internet data feeds, as well as applications designed to connect guests to hotel services such as room service menus, spa services and golf course scheduling.

Integrated technology solutions
LG's new LG700H series of HDTVs integrates the advanced Pro:Centric technology and more in a sleek glossy black frame with invisible speakers, making for a truly modern addition to any hotel room. Available in 32-, 37- and 42-inch class sizes, this unique invisible speaker system incorporates speaker actuators within the bezel, eliminating traditional speaker drivers and associated grills. Uncompromising in picture quality, the LG700H models provide a stunning dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and 1366 x 768 display capability for crisp images and color gradation.

For secure delivery of premium high-definition (HD) content, the LG700H is equipped with the industry-standard Pro:Idiom(TM) digital rights management system. This system provides hoteliers broad secure deployment of HDTV and other high-value digital content throughout the hotel. In addition, the high definition content is delivered in multiple formats including MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 technology that decodes the satellite-delivered HD content so hoteliers get more HD channels and can provide guests with expanded entertainment options.

Addressing the need for connectivity, LG's LG700H models are also remote jack pack (RJP) compatible. Using built-in ports, this series works with LG's patent pending auto-sensing RJPs that can sense the audio and video source automatically allowing hotel guests to check E-mail, play music, and watch the big game all through one interface. LG's RJPs are the only models in the industry to allow selection of audio and video independently, providing flexible mix and match capability. In addition, the LG700H HDTV is also equipped with two ATSC/QAM tuners and an integrated Ethernet interface so there is no need to rewire the hotel.

For energy conservation, the LG700H series provides hoteliers with LG's Dynamic Power Saving features, which allow hotel operators to adjust settings which help to reduce energy usage. In conjunction with the energy savings afforded by the Dynamic Power Saving settings, all three sizes of the LG700H are equipped with the Intelligent Sensor setting. Once set by the integrator, the sensor automatically evaluates the color characteristics of the ambient light, and uses this data to adjust brightness and several other picture settings, such as color, contrast and sharpness. The resulting picture is better suited to the room environment for an optimized viewing experience and automatically adjusts as conditions change.
