Florida DEP Inducts Hilton Naples into Green Lodging Program

The Hilton Naples announces its induction into the Florida Green Lodging Program by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The Hilton Naples is the first hotel in Naples to receive such a designation and the second in Collier County. "We are delighted to receive this certificate as we are committed to providing an eco friendly hotel and services to our guest" said Clark Hill, the hotel's general manager.

The Florida Green Lodging Program is a voluntary state initiative that provides the lodging industry with technical assistance, encouraging hotels and motels to adopt cost-saving "green" practices that reduce waste and conserve natural resources. The Hilton Naples has implemented paper, cardboard, aluminum and steel can recycling programs to reduce waste. In addition, the property installed low flow toilets, faucets, and showerheads as well as fluorescent lamps. The hotel invites guests to participate and provides a notice in guest rooms to encourage participation.

"Not only are the management and entire staff of the hotel committed to supporting the efforts of the DEP, but our guests will also be involved in helping with our initiatives. Since many guests practice some level of conservation at home, we believe they will appreciate the opportunity to contribute while traveling," says Hill.

Rivertide Suites Picks PMS from Multi-Systems, Inc. Based on Strength of Integration
Rivertide Suites in Seaside, Oregon announces its selection of the WinPM property management solution from Multi-Systems, Inc. Terry Bichsel, the hotel's owner, indicates that the selection is based on the ease of use of WinPM and for its ability to integrate with Best Western International's Two-Way interface software for use with the Best Western Central Reservation System.

"We use MSI's WinPM system at our Best Western Oceanview resort and really like the system," Bichsel says. "With two properties in the same town it makes sense to use the same system so staff can move from one hotel to the other."

Because Rivertide Suites is a condo-hotel, Bichsel needed a system that would manage both sides of the property's operations. WinPM and MSI were able to accommodate the Home Owner Association reporting that the Rivertide Suites property needed for its condo owners.

The "booked because" feature allows the property to explain booking patterns across the multi owner suites and a report card for a room showing all revenue that was generated by guests occupying the room.
