Faber Chooses ViVOtech Integrated Contactless & Magnetic-Stripe Payment Acceptance Solution

Travel and hospitality leader Faber, Coe & Gregg Inc. (Faber) chooses ViVOtech integrated contactless and magnetic-stripe payment readers, ViVOpay 4500m, to be used at all of its food & retail store locations on the east coast of the U.S. Using ViVOtech technology, Faber Coe & Gregg will be able to offer travelers a quicker payment option and greater convenience in their travel shopping experience. Customers will also be able to hold on to their payment cards and self-swipe or tap them on ViVOtech readers to make payments, eliminating any danger of leaving their cards behind with cashiers while on-the-go. The new ViVOtech units accept both traditional payments, such as magnetic stripe transactions, and new contactless and NFC mobile phone payments.

"ViVOtech presented us with the best solution not only to accept fast and convenient contactless and emerging NFC mobile phone payments, but also to allow customers to self-swipe their own magnetic-stripe cards in the same customer-facing readers, without having to hand over the card to cashiers," says Burton Friedman, chief financial officer of Faber. "Faber customers are always on-the-go and ViVOtech technology allowed us to provide the speed, convenience, and security they need no matter what payment method they choose."

Faber operates nationally-recognized retail brands in airports, train stations, highway rest stops and hotels on the east coast of the U.S. Contactless payment will be accepted at all of the check-out counters of their food and retail stores. The Faber family of brands includes a wide variety of national retailers, newsstands, and café shops such as Hugo Boss, Cubavera, Diamond Fire, Taxco, L'Occitane, Faber News Now, Dunkin Donuts, Java Moon, Cuban Coffee, Seattle's Best Coffee, Wetzels Pretzels, Pizzeria Uno Express, and Sandella's Flatbread Café.

Faber is using the ViVOpay 4500m device as an intelligent payment reader that features advanced contactless functionality in a flexible architecture. It provides for a single point of acceptance for all transactions from contactless and magnetic-stripe cards to emerging NFC mobile phones. It is capable of remote firmware downloads for application updates and upgrades, protecting capital investment and facilitating future advanced NFC-enabled payment, marketing and promotion functionality.
