Consumers Ready for Self-Service

Preliminary results from the 2006 HT Self-Service study indicate that consumers are ahead of hospitality operators in accepting self-service solutions at hotels and restaurants. In preliminary results, 67 percent of consumers reported that they would be very likely to use a self-service order-and-pay or check-in kiosk, although a minority had ever seen either type of kiosk.

As more and more hotels and quick service restaurants begin rolling out self-service solutions, this study will examine attitudes towards self-service in both the lodging and the restaurant industries, as well as the fundamental drivers behind the rapid growth of check-in/check-out kiosks in hotels and order-and-pay kiosks at QSRs.
