Joe Uhl

Mr. Uhl has over 37 years of senior management experience in the restaurant industry, including major roles in multi-unit QSR management and operations in a wide variety of U.S. markets for such brands as El Pollo Loco®, Cinnabon®, Church’s Chicken®, Popeye’s®, Einstein Bros. Bagels®, Checkers Drive-In Restaurants® and Wendy’s®. Currenlty, he is the Chief Operating Officer for FSC Franchise Co., LLC which owns and operates Beef’O’Brady’s® and the Brass Tap®.

Prior to joing FSC in 2010, he was the Chief Operating Officer for Fiesta Brands, Inc., an El Pollo Loco franchisee in Atlanta, Georgia. He was one of the founding principles in creation of Fiesta Brands, Inc. and helped negotiate a 50 store development agreement with El Pollo Loco® in the Atlanta DMA. He was instrumental in all facets of the business startup: real estate, construction, office and store financial systems. He was also responsible for the companies HR functions and hiring of an HR Director, Director of Construction, Corporate Controller, 3 District Managers, 35 full time management and 450 part time employees. He led the planning and opening of 9 restaurants in 10 months.

For two years prior to Fiesta Brands, Mr. Uhl was working as a consultant with Trimaran Capital Partners, a private equity firm in New York, creating business models to help evaluate possible acquisitions for Trimaran Capital Partners.

From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Uhl was the founding principle of the largest mall based franchisee in the Cinnabon® system as the President and COO of a 49 unit Cinnabon® franchise in six states (Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee & Washington).

In 1997, Mr. Uhl was recruited by AFC Enterprises. He worked in various Director level positions such as Director of New Business Development, Director of Restaurants Systems and Director of Facilities and Operations Systems. He was responsible for a Capital Maintenance budget in excess of $9 million, including all aspects from facility planning to equipment rollouts. Mr. Uhl developed several new tools that increased the efficiency and ROI of AFC’s restaurant operating systems, such as a new labor management system and an on-screen forecaster for the operation team to help improve controllable costs.

Prior to joining AFC, Mr. Uhl worked as the Director of Operations for Einstein Bros. Bagels®. He had full responsibility for all development and operations in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

In 1995 and 1996, Mr. Uhl was the principal owner and operator of a restaurant consulting company, working with various quick service restaurants to improve their administrative, information and operating systems. During that time he also oversaw an Olympic venue that included over fifty retail and food service vendors, full service hospitality and a catering facility for Continent of Africa.

For four years, Mr. Uhl served as the Executive Vice-President of InnerCityFoods, a $40 million subsidiary of Checkers Drive-In Restaurants®, a quick service restaurant chain with locations in Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C. He had full responsibility for all new restaurant development, human resources, marketing, MIS department, accounting department, budget forecasting, management of office staff, and store operations. In one year, he led the opening of 20 new locations with record sales and profits. Prior to Checkers Drive-In Restaurants® Joe worked with Wendy’s® in various key roles from 1976 to 1991.

Mr. Uhl has been married for 36 years and lives in Tampa, Florida.
