Scott Gibson

Scott Gibson is the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Distribution. Gibson leads Best Western’s information technology strategy and team, and is also responsible for voice and electronic distribution and reservation services. Gibson joined Best Western as CIO in 2005, bringing more than 20 years of hotel information technology experience and a track record for producing innovative technology solutions and capabilities.

During his tenure, Gibson has dramatically improved Best Western’s technology and technical capabilities. Beginning in 2006, he led a 3-year effort to integrate hotel property management systems with Best Western’s brand systems, creating a single image of availability and pricing and making it possible for customers to more effectively shop and book a room. The successful integration strategy significantly improved RevPAR and substantially increased Best Western’s revenue delivery to our hotels. Under his leadership, bestwestern.com has been honored by Compuware among the Best of the Web for 6 consecutive years, and named the top-performing hotel brand web site in the industry in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Best Western’s IT team has been recognized among the 250 most innovative business technology organizations by InformationWeek. Gibson’s Strategic Services team won the Hospitality Research In Practice award from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration in 2010, for their efforts to better understand customer’s needs.

Gibson’s role and accomplishments have been featured in numerous magazines, including CIO, Hospitality Technology, and Hospitality Upgrade, and he is a frequent keynote speaker at hotel and technology industry events. He has been recognized as one of Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT leaders, and as an innovative CIO by Phoenix Business Journal. Gibson currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hotel Technology Next Generation organization, which creates standards for hotel technology products and services and works to encourage adoption by suppliers to the hotel industry.

Before joining Best Western, Gibson served as the Chief Information Officer for Kerzner International, Inc, and for Cendant Corporation’s hotel division. Gibson is married, with one grown son. As a child, Gibson grew up in Ethiopia, Panama, Greece, Italy, and Washington DC. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in Hawaii, New Zealand, Japan, and Korea.
