Steve brings more than 27 years of experience leading technology departments for multi-unit restaurant corporations, addressing business needs and opportunities with technological solutions. For the past 14 years, he has worked as Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Quality Dining (QDI). QDI is a private corporation, operating 227 restaurants in 7 states, consisting of both quick-service and table-service concepts: Burger King, Chili's, Papa Vino's Italian Kitchen, and blue2o Seafood Grill (fine dining). With an emphasis on a methodology of continuous process improvement, he has effectively implemented an integrated replacement of the entire collection of stand-alone systems. He also served as chief systems architect in the development of an Above-Store Web Portal used to present Key Business Metrics to multi-level and corporate management personnel, to provide mobile access to all departments of the organization. Prior to moving to QDI, Steve served as Vice President of Information Technology at Brinker International for 12 years, where he established the technology infrastructure and the IT customer-service-call-center from a ground-floor state supporting growth from 25 national locations to 850 global profit centers; which at that time consisted of Chili’s, On The Border, Maggiano’s, Macaroni Grill and Cozymel. Steve has a history of developing IT infrastructures designed in a scalable fashion to support expansion, and building strong IT teams focused on innovative application development. His overriding theme in building IT teams has been to create a culture where IT personnel are focused on providing overwhelming customer support, an environment where they can feel proud of the support they provide, especially to restaurant operators.
Steve earned his MBA from Southern Methodist University and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a veteran of the US Army, serving in Vietnam in the 1 st Air Cavalry Division, and an Eagle Scout. He serves as a charter member on the MICROS Restaurant Steering Committee. Steve and his wife, Kathi, just celebrated their 40 th wedding anniversary with their three sons, 2 daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. His favorite menu item is Chili’s Fajita Trio Cadillac style.
