Founded in 1972, Ruby Tuesday currently operates over 800 restaurants in 45 states, the District of Columbia, 12 foreign countries, and Guam, including 750 domestic, company-owned locations. Concepts include the casual dining, eponymous flagship, Ruby Tuesday, Marlin & Rays (Seafood Bar & Gill), Truffles Grill (Fine Dining), and Wok Hay (Fresh Asian Dining), as well as the rapidly expanding fast casual Lime Fresh Mexican Grill.
The Information Technology team at Ruby Tuesday is a 2-time winner of the Hospitality Technology Edge Award for Restaurant Operator of the Year, the Nation’s Restaurant News Technology Innovator of the Year Award, and is also a 2-time recipient of the prestigious CIO Magazine CIO100 award.
At Ruby Tuesday, John has directed multiple major projects for internal software development, major systems acquisition, remote hardware/software deployments, and IT Governance, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley and Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance. Major accomplishments include rollouts of wide-area-network, point-of-sale systems, kitchen display systems, table management systems, inventory, labor, gift card, and loyalty. Currently, John is focused on leveraging next-generation technologies and integration with social media to deliver agile business innovations.
John volunteers extensively in the hospitality community. He is a charter member, and chairman emeritus, of the MICROS Systems Steering Committee. He has been a featured speaker on multiple occasions at both the MURTEC and FSTEC industry conferences, and serves on the board of directors of the Ruby Relief Team Disaster Response Fund, a 501(c)(9) non-profit organization.
