Janet Pirus
Chief Financial Officer, Pap Murphy's International
As a member of the
senior leadership team and the top financial executive with her last three
organizations, Pirus has developed, implemented and managed enterprise-level
strategic planning, forecasting and monitoring processes, facilitating improved
tactical execution of objectives and significant return on investment. She also creates value through her unique
ability to synthesize analytical data into meaningful and useful applications.
In 2005, Pirus was awarded the Papa Murphy's
Chairman's Award, representing a significant present and future impact on the
direction of the Company. Through the
attainment of a $35 million line of credit on favorable terms, she was instrumental
in the recapitalization effort to position the organization for expansive Company
store growth. She oversees financial
planning & analysis, supply chain management, business technology and accounting,
is one of three officers of the Papa Murphy's family of corporations, and sits
on the Company's Audit Committee and its Franchise Advisory Board.
As chief financial officer of Winchell's Donut
Houses for eight years, Pirus' scope of responsibility also included the human
resources and administration departments.
Her diverse experience includes residential construction, service
contracting, personnel recruitment and the recording industry.
Pirus is a member of Financial Executives
International and held the office of president for the association's Orange
County Chapter from 1999-2000. Pirus was
able to successfully steer a board of headstrong CFOs through a year of change;
she automated communications, implemented one of the association's first
chapter web sites and used public relations techniques to call attention to the
organization at the local level. This
resulted in a 20% increase in meeting attendance and a 50% growth in
sponsorship contributions for expanded scholarship programs. Her successful tenure earned national level
attention and an appointment as an adviser to the organization at the regional
level.
Pirus earned her master of business administration
degree, summa cum laude, at the University of Redlands. She served as a board adviser for YWCA Hotel
for Women from 1998-1999 and sat on the board of Share from 2007-2008, a local charity
dedicated to leading the homeless to self-sufficiency by providing food,
shelter, housing and education. Pirus
and her husband Steve reside in a rural community 25 miles north of Portland, Oregon
and have four grown children. In her
free time, she enjoys horses, reading and is an avid pistol shooter.
