Vice President Capital Finance & Procurement
As vice president capital finance & procurement for Omni Hotels, James A. Kuthy is responsible for the strategic direction and administration of all capital project finance and procurement related activities for the Omni Hotels portfolio. Kuthy brings over 28 years of previous financial management experience within the hospitality industry to his current role as he is charged with leading new initiatives for both P2P e-procurement and the financial management of complete capital project and facility lifecycles in an enterprise system of record.
Prior to his present position, Kuthy served as vice president development and acquisitions for Omni and was responsible for acquisitions, development opportunities, feasibility & investment analysis, and strategic planning.
From 1997 -- 2001, Kuthy served as corporate director of finance for Omni Hotels. As corporate director of finance, Kuthy was responsible for the leadership, support, direction and revenue and profitability enhancement of decentralized hotel finance operations within the upper-upscale hotel brand. Kuthy has also previously held the position of director of special projects with Shoreline Operating Company during its $500 million dollar acquisition of Omni Hotels in 1996.
Before joining Omni Hotels, Kuthy held a variety of hotel level director of finance positions with Shoreline Operating Company, Boykin Management Company, and Mariner Hotels. Kuthy began his career in the hospitality industry in 1980 in Aspen, Colorado, serving as director of finance of a multi-million dollar hotel unit at the age of 23.
Kuthy has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals Association (HFTP). He has been an active member of the Association since 1983 when he served on the founding committee of the Rocky Mountain chapter in Colorado.
A graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Kuthy holds an undergraduate degree from the college of literature, science and arts. He and his wife Patty split there living between homes in Irving, Texas, and Cotopaxi, Colorado.
